Mani Nezami

A founding partner of Haughton, Dubose & Nezami, PLLC, Mani Nezami’s career in law has been guided by his drive to help provide a voice to the voiceless. 

Prior to founding Haughton, Dubose & Nezami, PLLC, Mani spent six years at the Earl Carl Institute, as the lead attorney for their Juvenile Justice Project. While at the Earl Carl Institute, Mani represented hundreds of juveniles in the criminal justice system. Additionally, Mani offered counsel and advice to youth and families with issues in the special education, mental health, and foster care systems.

In 2014, Mani was awarded the prestigious Equal Justice Works Fellowship to launch a first-of-its-kind program to address the issue of disproportionate minority contact in a variety of systems, through a holistic approach to representation. 

Mani has testified before the Texas Legislature several times, and has helped implement legislative changes that have positively impacted thousands of families throughout Texas.  He has also been quoted and interviewed by numerous national and local media outlets including, The New York Times, Buzzfeed News, Texas Monthly and The Houston Chronicle, amongst others.

Prior to his work at the Earl Carl Institute, Mani volunteered full-time with the Innocence Project. Partially due to his efforts, the Innocence Project was able to obtain the release of Roderick Dixon in 2015. In 2012, Mani was recognized by the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono College with over 500 volunteer hours. 

Mani received a Bachelor of Arts from University of Texas at Austin (2005), and a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law Houston (2010).
